INFORMATION ABOUT STARK RANCH AND MINING DEVELOPMENT
ON SOUTHWEST SECTION OF ST. LUCIE COUNTY

Questions from concerned residents:

  1. How deep is this mine going to be?
  2. Do you have any tentative lists of company names to do the mining as sub-contractor?
  3. What percentage of the mined coquina will remain in the property for housing development?
    • Previously mentioned the mine will be about 300 acres, how much of that is going out and how much of it is staying in the property? This excludes the overburden, as overburden can be used for top soil.
  4. Who is buying the coquina fill coming from your mine? You said you had a list of customers – who are they?
  5. We know from previous mining workshops that the pumps will be running 24/7 –

    a. How big are these pumps going to be?
    b. What type of power is going to run these pumps?
    c. Where will they be located?
    d. Where is the discharge water going to ?

  6. What will be their plan to prevent the Carlton road from future flooding should we have a substantial amount of rain? Will they stop pumping water out?
  7. Concern with water table – how are you not going to effect the wells – what safeguards are in place?
    • I would like to see the hydrology reports for this mine from the engineers, as well as the permits to SFWMD & FDEP.
  8. This is a small mine compared to the previous one requested by Dickerson, but is this the only mine proposed or is there an option to make the mine bigger than 300 acres? Do you have any future plans to extend mining activities in the area?
  9. How many dump trucks? (2 dumptrucks every minute)
  10. Which roads will these dumptrucks use?
